Profiles shown below were obtained under equal conditions:
1. Typical urban conditions. The test site is located between of two high buildings.
2. A metallic water-filled pipe is burried to ground at 2 m depth and is directed perpendicularly to georadar's motion path.
3. There are several electrical transmission lines crossing above, mainly perpendicularly to georadar's path.

This profile was obtained
with unshielded 500 MHz antenna. The hyperbolic signal
near to center corresponds to pipe's location. White
arrows point-out signals from different objects (air electrical cables, buildings...). These overlaying signals interfer and here and there suppress a subsurface signals. |

This profile was obtained
with our new shielded 500 MHz antenna. The
hyperbolic signal near the center also corresponds to
pipe's location. Obviously, there are only subsurface
signals! Also, due to directive properties new antenna
has a shorter "blind" zone. Need more commentary? |
